The 2019 Purbrook Ladies 5 race will be held on 9th June 2019, race start 10:00am

Commercial sponsorship of events aims to subsidise the costs of events down and publicise the sponsors business or services. they also help to reduce the cost to individual entrants.
Some club members recently received vests in club colours with the name of the sponsor of the Coastal Marathon; TJ Waste, emblazoned on them. These vests and the associated sponsorship is welcomed by the club and we want to express our thanks to TJ Waste for their generous donation and sponsorship of the event and individual athletes.
However, we need to remind members that wearing of these vests in any other race or event held under UKA rules is prohibited under Rule 143 Supplement 1 of the UKA Rule Book 2018-20 and can lead to sanction of the club and the individual athlete by England Athletics.
Be proud of your achievement and express your thanks to TJ Waste for their sponsorship, but please keep these vests for training or non-competitive events.

This is an undulating road race of 7.4 miles, with all proceeds going to the Rocky Appeal. The race will leave from Blendworth Church Hall, Horndean, PO8 0AA and follow an out and back route.
The walkers option is only for those choosing to walk a route of approximately 3.5 miles. Do no choose this option if you are looking to run.
There is a 100 minute time limit on the race, and no headphones etc may be worn, as it is on open country roads.
There is an option to make a donation to the Rocky Appeal as well through this page, please feel free to choose any value or combinations of values to make your donation. (Donations are optional)
All monies received to the club for this race are donated to the Rocky Appeal, and any prizes are kindly donated to the club, if you would like to add any prizes to the raffle that will be held then these are gratefully received.
A bit more information about the upcoming photo challenge….
This will be a fun event suitable for all Joggers no matter speed or ability. You will be able to pick your own route/distance (everything from 1 mile to 10 miles plus) so this should fit into everyones training plans. Being speedy does not mean you have an advantage!
It will be teams of 3 or 4 and you will need a camera/camera phone in each team to take a photo at each of the checkpoints. There will also be extra ‘fun’ challenges you can choose to do along the way!
You will need to fill in the attached form and either bring it on the night or you can give it to Pip/Jenny in advance.
Registration will be open from 6:15 with the event starting at 7. All teams must be back by 8:15 with prize giving at 8:30

Great South Run 21st October: Volunteers needed for Water / Gel Station duty – 10th Hole. A little different this year, we need lots of volunteers for the 10th Hole and Winston Churchill Avenue water stations and new this year a Gel Station. The Gel Station will be approximately 100m prior to the 10th Hole water station.
Everyone will get a packed lunch and freeby jacket.
Please also share this with your running buddies and or other clubs etc. It’s a fun day out and gives an opportunity to give something back into the running community.

The next couch to 5k course starts on Tuesday 27th 2017.
This is a 9 week course, costing £10.00 and will take you through the school summer holidays, so if you’re interested please bear this in mind. Graduation will take place on Saturday 26th August at 1000 Lakeside during the Portsmouth Lakeside parkrun, registration is required at www.parkrun.org.uk (this is free).
Training will take place every Tuesday and Thursday night (19:00) at Lakeside North Harbour, Western Road, Portsmouth. PO6 3EN

As soon as the clocks change Steve and Bill’s group start running off road on Thursday evenings. On the first week of every three we’ll be starting from 1000 Lakeside, on the other two weeks we will be running from locations just outside Portsmouth. On Tuesdays we will still be running from 1000 Lakeside, except for Tuesday 25th April because the AGM is on Thursday of that week.
