The Portsmouth Joggers is a friendly club with about 400 runners and joggers of all abilities from beginners to ultra marathon runners. One advantage of being a big club is that when running we split into groups of different abilities so whatever your running ability we will be able to find a group for you to run with.
Different groups in the club have different objectives, lots of us just want to go for a run and a chat, others want a slightly more structured approach with for example interval and hill rep training. Many of our members enjoy participating in races organised in Hampshire and further afield and so you will also find groups following training schedules for events such as the Great South Run, Half Marathons and Marathons.
You are welcome to come and run with the Joggers a couple of times before joining. If you like the club and want to join then see our membership page or pick up a form from the club. Our membership is currently £12 per year.
Where and when we meet
We are based at 1000 Lakeside, North Harbour, Portsmouth, Hampshire PO6 3EN. Our main club meetings are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, meeting at 6:45pm and going for approximately a 1 hour run at 7pm.
There is plenty of free car parking at Lakeside – please park in zone B and note that there is a one-way system (see the arrows on the map below). Drive into Lakeside go past the main entrance to the building and turn right and then right again. Once you have parked follow the footpath from the car park underneath the entrance road past some shops and into the main lobby area of Lakeside – you will find us in the cafe just on the right (you can’t miss us we’re the ones in running kit!)

Other Running Sessions
Like to try some off road running or get yourself ready for a long distance challenge then consider trying out Martin Bacons group. They meet every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday on the top of the hill. Meeting at 18:30 they will cover distances between 6 – 16 miles in the evening and longer distances at the weekend, meeting at designated times as early as 06:30. We also have several groups that run on Saturday mornings that meet outside the main entrance of the Lakeside building at around 8:45am and leave at 9am. Saturday runs are often a bit longer – between 1.5 and 2.5 hours, in particular for groups following Marathon training schedules.
For those who prefer off-road running there is a Sunday running group that run from various locations just outside of Portsmouth.
In the Summer months (April-September) it is also common for some of the groups to run off-road from other locations on Thursday evenings.
