The Hampshire Road Race League (HRRL) is a hugely popular series of 12 road races hosted by local running clubs and held in locations throughout Hampshire and the Isle of Wight from September to June each year. The races are held on Sunday mornings (except Overton, Sunday afternoon).
There are 6 races of 5 miles/10K, and another 6 races of 10 miles/half marathon, and all races are open to club and non-club runners alike.
These races are extremely popular now, so entry well in advance is recommended. All races offer an option to transfer your entry (up to a few days before the race) – ideally to another PJC member! Full list of races below, together with links to entry/results.
For the competitive minded, there are leagues for both individual runners and Hampshire clubs, including PJC of course. To qualify for the individual leagues, you need to run in at least 7 races in the year. For the club leagues, in simple terms, you need to be UKA registered (England Athletics) and enter as a Portsmouth Jogger, and wherever you finish, it will help the club.
However, all the races are open to runners of all abilities, and are always well supported by PJC members.
This season (2019/20) we are offering a range of incentives to PJC members who support or complete HRRL races.
2 races (Gosport and Stubby) double up as club championship races. Trophies for the top 3 in each of the following age groups (men and women): 18-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60+ – to be awarded at our revamped club awards night in April.
£10 travel contribution to all who complete Ryde.
Pair of PJC tracksuit bottoms to all who do 7+ HRRL races (and you get the HRRL mug from the league as well!)
Other prizes (again to be presented at the club awards event) for this season are:
Best contribution to HRRL (eg best club spirit, in-race support for other PJC runners etc)
Best supporter
Worse race photo of the year!!
Captains award.
+£5 spot prize each race for one of our finishers.
We also organise car shares from Lakeside.
HRRL has its own website (http://www.hrrl.org.uk), where you can keep up to date with the results, leagues, and other news.
You can contact the Joggers HRRL captain Kiernan Easton at club training nights.
