Club running from 19th July

The club would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to Lakeside for continuing to support the club and enable us to run from there on club nights.

In line with government and England Athletics advice and the move to step 4 of the government roadmap in England, club running from Tuesday 20th July will no longer be required to operate in a covid secure environment. This means that there is no longer a requirement to book your run through eventbrite, nor wear a mask when you turn up for your run. The virus has not gone away and in many areas nationally, reported cases are on the increase, therefore it will always remain personal choice as to whether you wear a mask for the pre and post run chats. We are not immune from the virus, so please help to keep each other safe.

Please do not come to any club session if you or someone in your household tested positive for coronavirus. If you should develop symptoms having attended a club training session, please notify your group leader or the chair of PJC at chair@pjc.org.uk in order that the other group members can be notified and take appropriate action as required.

Lakeside are in support of us continuing to meet in the car parks and run from Lakeside, however, we are not currently allowed to use the Atrium or restaurant area inside Lakeside to meet. We will continue to be provided access to the toilet in the retail area should anyone need to use the facilities before or after a run.

I am in regular contact with Lakeside and when the situation changes in relation to meeting inside, I will inform all members. If you haven’t run for a while and are feeling apprehensive about returning, feel free to drop me a line at chair@pjc.org.uk and I will pass your details to one of our Welfare Leads who will help you find a group or running buddy to run with.

We are visible in and around the local community and as a responsible running club, I would urge you all to maintain safe space and exercise consideration and courtesy as always, to others when using public and shared paths and pavements.

I hope to see you back at the club soon. Take care and stay safe, Tony Quinn, Chair PJC
